Note activity

Learners write a private note, such as a commitment to act on, and it's emailed to them after the session.

Written by Cody Iddings

In a Note activity, each learner takes time to reflect and write down their thoughts. After the experience, each learner’s notes are emailed to them by default. To change this, edit the post-experience email template.

How to add a Note activity

  1. In the section you want, click Add content > View all activities…, and then choose Note.

  2. On the group canvas, add a headline and description to prompt the group. We recommend adding an Audio introduction in the options panel too. It plays at the start of the activity.

  3. Under Participant device, add the prompt learners see on their phone. To use the same text as the group canvas, set the toggle to Synced with group canvas.

  4. In the options panel, under Time allocated, choose how long learners have. We recommend no more than four minutes. Much longer, and learners can become uneasy.

  5. Optional: To show an image on the group canvas, click Image and choose one.

  6. Optional: Under Background Music, choose the music that plays while learners write.

  7. Optional: To show the responses from an earlier activity in place of the image, choose that activity in the Show earlier responses list, under More settings. You can choose any eligible activity from any section.

  8. Optional: To add an expert tip, which is a short audio clip that gives learners an extra prompt, click Choose audio tip.

When to use the Note activity

  • When you want learners to record something they’ll value after the experience.

  • When you want learners to commit to an action.

  • After a thought-provoking video or activity.

  • Before a Discussion, so learners can collect their own thoughts first and then discuss them as a group.

Reporting

  • The report shows each note as plain text.

  • Whether learners’ email addresses appear in the report depends on Hide participant email addresses, under Participant anonymity in the experience settings. It’s selected by default.
