Post-it activity

Learners each write a short thought on a post-it that the whole group sees, so every voice is heard equally.

Written by Cody Iddings

A Post-it activity gives every learner a voice. Each learner writes a single short thought on a post-it, and it’s shared with the whole group equally.

Tip: Follow a Post-it with a Discussion, so learners can say more about what they wrote.

Note: For Creator customers, each learner’s post-its are emailed to them after the experience by default. To change this, edit the post-experience email template.

How to add a Post-it activity

  1. In the section you want, click Add content > View all activities…, and then choose Post-it.

  2. On the group canvas, add a headline and description to prompt the group. We recommend adding an Audio introduction in the options panel too. It plays at the start of the activity.

  3. Under Participant device, add the prompt learners see on their phone. To use the same text as the group canvas, set the toggle to Synced with group canvas.

  4. In the Post-it instructions field, enter the label learners see on the box where they write.

  5. In the options panel, under Time allocated, choose how long learners have. We recommend two minutes for most activities.

  6. Optional: Under Background Music, choose the music that plays while learners write.

  7. Optional: To add an expert tip, which is a short audio clip that gives learners an extra prompt, click Choose audio tip.

  8. Optional: To hide who wrote each post-it, select Anonymize all responses under More settings. Otherwise, each post-it shows the learner’s colored avatar.

  9. Optional: To let each learner add more than one post-it, go to More settings. In Max number of responses from participants, choose up to 5. The default is 1.

When to use the Post-it activity

  • To capture ideas.

  • After a video, so learners can share notes or thoughts about it with the group.

  • At the start of a section, to capture the group’s ideas.

Reporting

  • The report shows each post-it as plain text.
