The Quiz activity allows participants to answer multiple-choice questions, receive immediate feedback, and engage in group discussions about their answers. This activity is designed to reinforce key concepts and encourage collaborative learning.

How to add a Quiz activity:

  1. Add a "Quiz" activity to your desired section.

  2. Add a question to begin editing. Once you click into a question, you can start customizing the options for that question:

    1. Manage the possible answers: The Quiz starts with 4 options by default, but you can remove unwanted options using the minus icon next to the field. You can also add more options, up to a total of 8, using the "Add option +" button.

    2. Select the correct answer by clicking the corresponding button on the right side within the option field. If it's checked, it's marked as the correct answer. For quizzes with multiple correct answers, you can choose more than one correct option.

    3. Include an image with your question to provide visual context and make the quiz more engaging.

    4. Manage audio introductions: We recommend uploading an “Audio introduction” that plays at the beginning of the question. You also have the option to add audio that plays when the correct answer is revealed.

    5. Add more quiz questions to the activity. If you need to delete a question, use the minus button to the right of the question block. We recommend grouping similar questions within the same quiz activity.

  3. Manage your quiz options:

    1. Time allocation: This is automatically calculated based on the time per question. Discussion time is not included unless auto-progress is enabled.

    2. Background audio: Select atmospheric audio to play while participants are answering the questions to help set the tone and focus for the activity.

    3. Time per question: Set the amount of time participants have to answer each question. For fast-paced, easy quizzes, 30 seconds per question is recommended. For more complex questions, a longer duration may be needed. The correct answer will automatically be shown when all responses are submitted or when the timer runs out.

    4. Discussion time: After responses are submitted, the correct answers will automatically appear for discussion and reflection. You can set a brief time for just viewing the answers (e.g., 15 seconds) or a longer time for in-depth discussion (e.g., 3 minutes). The quiz can auto-progress to the next question or activity if this option is enabled. Otherwise, the host will manually control when to move on.

    5. Leaderboard: This option ranks participants based on their quiz scores, awarding points for correct answers. The faster you answer, the more points you earn! It's a great way to encourage friendly competition and boost engagement. The leaderboard appears at the end of the quiz, giving everyone a chance to see where they stand.

By default, it uses cumulative scoring, which means it adds up points from all the quiz questions you've answered in the experience so far. You can adjust this in your experience settings if you prefer to have separate leaderboards for each quiz activity.

When to use the Vote activity:

  1. Use the Quiz to reinforce key concepts from the learning session.

  2. Use the Quiz to assess group understanding and identify areas where further explanation might be needed.

  3. Use the Quiz to stimulate discussion by allowing participants to compare answers and discuss why certain answers are correct or incorrect.

Reporting:

The data appears as participants' chosen answers (in plain text) in the report, separated by commas if there are multiple correct answers. The correct answer is also shown in at the top of the report, below the question. All reporting data is anonymous.

FAQ

Is there a limit to the number of questions in a quiz?
No, you can add as many questions as needed to cover the learning objectives.

Can the quiz auto-progress?
The quiz will always show the correct answer when the timer is complete or all responses have been submitted. To auto-progress to the next question after showing the answers, you need to enable the auto-progress feature.

Can I use a video instead of an image?
No, videos cannot be embedded directly in quiz questions. You would need to add a separate video activity before the quiz.

Do I have to add a discussion activity after the quiz?
To discuss the quiz as a whole, we recommend adding a separate discussion activity after the quiz. However, there is already space within the quiz for discussing individual answers. If you prefer to keep things moving quickly, you can set auto-progress with a shorter discussion time, such as 15 seconds.
