The vote activity is an anonymous poll where participants can vote for their favourite responses (seen as post-its) across the group. Votes are collected and then revealed once all the participants have completed the activity. Vote is most often used following an "post-it" and "select" activities.

How to add a vote activity:

  1. Add a “Vote” activity to your desired section

  2. Add a headline and description to prompt the group. We also recommend uploading an “Audio introduction” that supports the text on screen. Audio intros play at the beginning of the activity.

  3. Add a similar (or the same) prompt on the participant device. This is what they see on their phone.

  4. Add your vote options. These show up on the participant’s device and are prompted to choose one. Note: If it's following a Post-it exercise or a Select exercise, you can select "Use previous responses" to use the dynamic, participant content from those activities.

  5. Choose the number of votes your participants can give. They can have between 1 and 3 votes in a given activity. Note: they can only vote for an option once.

  6. Choose your desired time. We recommend at least 2 minutes for most interactive activities, but with voting, the timer spans across both voting as well as responses appearing. Note: At the moment, you can't carry over voting results into a discussion, so you'll need to incorporate discussions directly into the voting activity. Therefore, you may want to make the timer longer for the group to discuss as soon as the responses appear.

  7. Select your atmospheric background audio that plays while participants are choosing their responses.

  8. Provoking complex or deep thoughts? Add an optional “Audio tip” to give participants an extra prompt to provoke further.

When to use the Vote activity:

  • Use voting to show the most popular responses that have been submitted

  • Use voting to show the distribution and highlight the diversity of opinion

  • Use voting to visualise a vote and get a consensus

Reporting:

  • The data appears as their chosen responses (in plain text) in the report, separated by commas if there are multiple votes. All reporting data is anonymous.

Yes, the final voting tally is anonymous and will not show to the group. If Participant Anonymity is turned off, then the participant email address will be linked to their response in the experience report.
