Add Videos to your experience

Videos are used as rich-media content to support your learning experience. We support both uploading your videos to our platform, or uploading your videos to YouTube or Vimeo videos, and adding their respective URLs.

More on the video activity here.

Add Images to your experience

Images are most often used as content that displays on the group display when there isn’t an interactive activity. You can also use images and audio together with the Slideshow activity.

How to Add Images

If you see an image ‘Choose Image’ button, we support the ability for you to upload images or easily embed royalty-free Unsplash images.

  • To upload, first click ‘Choose Image’, then click the third tab ‘Upload’.

    • Here you can upload any JPG, PNG, or SVG file that is under 4MB. If you have an image that is bigger than that, we recommend you first scale it down with an application like this.

    • After your upload, name the image file something easy you can reference later. You can find all of your uploaded files in the first tab “My Gallery”.

  • To choose a royalty-free image, first click ‘Choose Image’, then click the second tab ‘Royalty-free’.

    • First search for the image you’d like to add. This searches all of The internet’s source of freely-usable images on Unsplash.

    • If the search returns results, simply add it to your experience.

How to Delete Images

In "My gallery", you can hover over any thumbnail and select 'Delete'. If this image is being used in an experience, you will get an error message "Currently being used."

Add Audio to your experience

Audio is a big part of what makes a Makeshapes experience engaging for participants. We recommend that you spend time considering how you might use audio in your experience, and spend the same amount of energy you might on Video that you would on recording audio for your experience.

Makeshapes Audio Features

Audio Introduction

You can add audio that automatically plays at the beginning of an activity. Once the audio plays, the timer starts. We recommend using audio introductions to transition the group from videos to activities.

Expert Tips (Audio)

You can add "tips" that the group can play if they get stuck in a particular activity or discussion. Think of it as an additional prompt or mimicking what you may respond if someone says: “I need help”.

Background Audio

You can add audio that plays in the background of an activity or in the waiting room as participants register. This is automatically quieter, so don’t worry about making it quieter. We recommend using background audio for most interactive activities as opposed to discussions. We've made it easy for you to add this in -- just select the Royalty Free tab and select from some of our favourites.

How to Add Audio

If you see an image ‘Choose Audio’ button, we support the ability for you to upload audio or easily embed royalty-free audio.

Upload Audio

To upload, first click ‘Choose Audio, then click the third tab ‘Upload’. Here you can upload any MP3 file that is under 4MB. If you have a file that is bigger than that, we like Audacity to trim or compress audio files. After you upload, name the audio file something easy you can reference later. You can find all of your uploaded files in the first tab “My Gallery”.

Royalty Free Audio

To choose a royalty-free audio, first click ‘Choose Audio’, then click the second tab ‘Royalty-free’. Here you will find a list of Audio files that we have hand chosen and specifically designed to be used as background audio. In the name of the audio file, we write whether it will be good for the waiting room, an activity, or in reflection.

Record Audio

To record audio, first click 'Record' in the 'Choose audio to add' modal. You'll need to give your browser permissions to record, press the red button, and start recording! Once you start recording, the red button will stop the recording and the black pause button will pause the recording, which you can continue by pressing it again. The file will have to process for a few moments (usually takes a few seconds), then you can add it to your experience.

Editing and Deleting Audio

Once you've uploaded, recorded, or otherwise added an audio file to your library, you can edit it to change the start/end time, title, or even delete the file. You can either change the start/end time in the text box below or drag the bar below the sound bars.
