Drawing activity

Learners draw a picture on their phone and share it with the group, a fun way to break the ice or share ideas without words.

Written by Cody Iddings

In a Drawing activity, each learner draws a simple picture on their phone, and it’s drawn on the group canvas for everyone to see. Nobody needs to be an artist. Drawing asks for a different kind of thinking from writing, so it works well as an icebreaker or to add some fun to an experience.

How to add a Drawing activity

  1. In the section you want, click Add content > View all activities…, and then choose Drawing.

  2. On the group canvas, add a headline and description to prompt the group. We recommend adding an Audio introduction in the options panel too. It plays at the start of the activity.

  3. Under Participant device, add the prompt learners see on their phone. To use the same text as the group canvas, set the toggle to Synced with group canvas.

  4. In the options panel, under Time allocated, choose how long learners have. We recommend two minutes for most activities.

  5. Optional: Under Background Music, choose the music that plays while learners draw.

  6. Optional: To add an expert tip, which is a short audio clip that gives learners an extra prompt, click Choose audio tip.

When to use the Drawing activity

  • As an icebreaker at the start of a session. Ask learners to draw something fun, such as their favorite food, a hobby or even another learner.

  • For ideas that are hard to describe in words.

  • As a different way to capture and share ideas.

Reporting

  • Drawings are saved, but they don’t appear in reports. To get the drawings from a session, contact us.
